Terastone

Engineered stone slabs made with Breton vacuum-vibration technology: indoors and outdoors, cut to the size you want.

What is Terastone

From natural aggregate to slab

Terastone is a surface material in slab form, made by combining crushed, screened and washed marble, basalt, granite and quartz aggregates of 0.1 mm to 10 mm grain size with BRETON vacuum-vibration technology.

Apart from natural aggregate and cement, no chemical materials such as polyester or resin are ever used as a binder.

It is cut to size from 68×150×3 cm slabs and used indoors and outdoors. As an alternative to materials such as marble, granite, limestone, ceramic, quartz and terrazzo, it can be used with confidence in every kind of building.

Technology

Vibration under vacuum

The very low water/cement ratio and the vibration-under-vacuum system produce a non-porous, compact material.

  1. Aggregate

Crushed, screened and washed marble, basalt, granite and quartz aggregates; grain size 0.1–10 mm.

  2. Vacuum-vibration

Aggregate and cement are compacted in the BRETON vacuum-vibration system at a very low water/cement ratio.

  3. Slab

A compact 68×150×3 cm slab is produced; it is then cut to size and its surface finished.

  • Flexural strength

    Extremely high strength (11.50 N/mm²).

  • Water absorption

Volumetric water absorption is extremely low; water absorption by weight is 1.5–2.5%.

  • Gloss

Thanks to its non-porous surface the gloss is very high (65 gloss).

  • Homogeneity

Thousands of square metres can be made without any change in colour, texture or appearance.

  • Fire and health

It belongs to the non-combustible, non-radioactive category; it does not ignite or release toxic gas.

Applications

Terastone on every surface

Applications prepared by cutting the slabs to the size you want.

  • Facade cladding

Terastone slabs can be cut to the dimensions the project needs and used as facade cladding for any kind of building, as an alternative to marble, granite, limestone and ceramic.

  • Window sills

A building element on the inner and outer edges under a window frame that stops rain running off the window from seeping into the wall and carries it away from the wall.

  • Thresholds

Door thresholds that form the transition between two spaces; cut from slabs to the size wanted, with both long edges chamfered and polished.

  • Countertops

For wet areas, cut from slabs to the size wanted and finished for use as kitchen or washbasin countertops.

  • Skirting

A specially prepared building material that provides the transition between floor and wall and keeps the wall clean.

Finishes

Surface finishes

Depending on the intended use, floor tiles come in a range of surface finishes.

  • Polished

Used where a glossy surface is wanted, indoors and outdoors.

  • Sandblasted

Preferred outdoors for its outstanding slip resistance.

  • Honed

Used where a matt surface is preferred, indoors and outdoors.

  • Aged (patinato)

Used in spaces where an antique look is wanted.
